Acupuncture Get Rid of Smoking

Smoking cessation can be one of the most difficult challenges a person can face. There are many measures to help quit smoking, including acupuncture. With the right doctor, acupuncture can help you overcome sometimes fatal addictions from smoking.

What is acupuncture?

One of the oldest forms of treatment, acupuncture perceives the human body as composed of a number of energy channels or meridians, and focuses on creating balance in the body. Acupuncture uses a combination of herbal treatments and inserting needles into the body, in particular within the meridian pathway. Acupuncture first make an assessment, asking the patient questions about eating habits, physical activity, emotional and psychological stressors and the medical past. Typically, the questionnaire for licensed acupuncture is quite detailed and can take up to 30 minutes to respond. Acupuncture can help determine how many treatments are needed after seeing the results from the first visit.

Addiction Process

To quit smoking, the addiction process should be understood. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nicotine - which is in cigarettes - can be as addictive as heroin, cocaine or alcohol. In America, nicotine is rated as the most common addiction among users. The first step in treating addiction is to get control. According to Rich Covello, L.Ac. to visit acupuncture is the first attempt to take control. Empire Acupuncture Relief

Acupuncture can also help you recover from withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal of nicotine can produce anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating and increased appetite. The purpose of acupuncture is to guide the body back to the state of balance, helping to maintain control over the addiction.

Getting control over addiction varies from person to person. Many factors can affect this process, as well as stress, lifestyle changes and readiness to quit. In most cases, people
stop smoking gradually, over weeks or even months, and sometimes need repeated interventions to maintain success.

After you find an acupuncture, be sure to ask for references. Acupuncture licensed require 3,000 to 5,000 hours of training, while medical acupuncturists require only 100 to 300 hours of training. Ask for patient treatments and successes. Taking control of treatment is part of taking control of your addiction.

I am keen to try this, stopping smoking is my resolution for 2020. I work long hours in aircraft navigation, and have struggled to give up with willpower and nicotine gum alone. Maybe acupuncture is the answer I have been looking for....
